As cranes dance at dawn, hearts aligned, swirling in the heavens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are the laborers; their spirits alive with sacred love, hope and utopia,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breathing life into fallow fields, where spilled blood finds its voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 May Day celebration; black, white, yellow, skin hues differ,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world suffices for all, children’s tears share the same hue, flowers may wither.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the sacred waters, like dear as water, for the traces of Sevakin,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blue-white love of the Nile in Khartoum; amidst swirling desert dust,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the early extinguished embers, scorching summer, sunburnt knees,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broken reeds, kohl-eyed, seeking solace, the breeze of poetic flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 May Day celebration; black, white, yellow, skin hues differ,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world suffices for all, children’s tears share the same hue, flowers may wither.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With echoing cries of warning, verses rhyme like cascades, lost loves,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gaze that sees beyond, the bright light of the African verse,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The green geography of the heart, inspiration’s tent, bridal house of henna nights,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cemel thirsting for freedom, Jebel Marra Mountain kissing the sky with flames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world suffices for all, children’s tears share the same hue, flowers may wither.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poems unfurl like flags, hands beating the drums in unison,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lions and gazelles drinking from the same pond at once,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In ceaseless wars of settled and nomads,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flowers sprouting at the barrel’s end, of children lost and killers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world suffices for all, children’s tears share the same hue, flowers may wither.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And peace; the backbone of mountains, the master of deserts, the wish of the oppressed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poems roam the entire continent, with hearts of poets proclaiming: “I am African”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For freedom; children who fight with slings and plows, against time,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The harmony of color and sound, the African flower with roots deep, reaching for the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
